With the New Year comes change. Here are some important technical updates.
Internet Explorer 8
The best way to launch our programming is with the Internet Explorer web browser. Unfortunately, listeners have encountered a problem using our media player with Internet Explorer 8. To resolve this issue, we recommend that you open IE8, select "Tools" and then choose "Compatibility View Settings." You will see a box to run all websites in "compatibility view." Make sure that this is selected. Everything should work properly, after you have done this.
Adobe Flash Audio Is Coming
We have been looking for a way to make our programming available to all listeners, regardless of what web browser or Operating System (Windows, Mac, Linux) that they may be using. The answer is Adobe Flash Audio. We are in the process of developing a new media player for this, and hope to offer it early this year.
Listening To Boomer Radio On The Blackberry And Other Smartphones
We are in the process of making our programming available on the Blackberry and other smartphones. The Blackberry has limited multi-media capabilities and so we will provide audio-only. There will be no graphics or Artist and Title information, because the phone cannot display this information. Some smartphones may also be able to listen to our programming, as well. Listen to Boomer Radio for more details.
Apple iPhones and iPod "Touch"
Boomer Radio was the first radio station to offer Adobe Flash Audio on the iPhone and iPod "Touch." This is done using a third-party application called Tuner 2. It is available at the iTunes Store and you can get there by clicking on the small banner near the top of the Boomer Radio home page. The cost is $8.99 plus tax. None of this money goes to Boomer Radio.
The response from listeners who enjoy Boomer Radio on their iPhone and iPod "Touch" has been very positive.
